Not sure if this the right place for this, but I'm trying anyways. Neighbor up the street was selling his 18' coleman canoe for $100. It's not in too bad of shape, some deep scratches/gouges on the bottom, and it had a patch on the inside. Went to pay him and pick it up today, and I noticed the patch was starting to come off of the bottom of the canoe. So very gently with a single finger the patch pulled off quite easily, and I mean easily. I showed him the patch pulled off. The glue underneath was hard and brittle. I talked him down to $80 for the canoe, so now I need to know the best way to repair it. I've repaired my fiberglass canoe before, I still have it. Just no idea how to repair this tupperware stuff coleman uses. There's a Coleman outlet store in town I'm planning to check out this weekend. Any ideas let me know either on the group or e-mail directly at paramedic21740(at)myactv(dot)net remove the (). Thanx John

part of the trouble with polyethylene boats. repairs are not simple. To the other advice given you, I'd add, look for someone who has a plastic welder. Some polys can be welded. Or just sell the damn thing to someone who feels they can deal with the damage. It is really not a very good boat. -Dan V. I would go the Coleman's website to see if they have instructions to glue to the material. I had a Coleman canoe once. To attach knee pads by gluing, the instructions with the canoe required that a propane torch be used to flash the spot to be glued to a dull look then apply glue and whatever was being attached to the material.
