Subject: longer sea kayak course/education

Hello fellow paddlers! I am a fairly inexperienced paddler that have paddled sporadically and in an unorganized fashion for the past four years or so. I'm finishing my degree in about a year, and was thinking about taking a gap year, when the idea popped up in my head that pursuing sea kayaing in depth for a while might be a fun way to spend some time. Thus my question: does anyone know of a longish (say somewhere between a month and a year) course in sea kayaing being conducted anywhere? Perhaps some kind of programme leading up to a sea kayak instructor certificate. Europe would be preferable, but seeing the world wouldn't be such a bad thing either. I'm from Sweden, and have been looking into the courses given by the "folkhögskolor" (Folk High Schools, a swedish education form that usually consists of a small school giving a one year course in an obscure handicraft or sport such as textile weaving, wood carving, rock climbing, photographing or somesuch, with the only purpose being the fun and enlightenment of the participants of the course), but couldn't find anything suitable. Might there be something similar in another country? Thank you for any and all tips and recommendations best Gustaf Rydevik

I got a private email recommending them as well, so I took a look at their webpage. It seems as if the instructor course might require a touch too much paddling experience compared to what I have. Has anybody here attended their "lower" courses? If so, what was your impression? /Gustaf
