Subject: first kayak options questions
Hello,

I am looking to trade my Old Town Discovery 164 for a single person
kayak. My needs for the kayak are:

1) Light enough for one person to carry for launch, a short distance
but at least the length of a parking lot
2) Good for paddling an hour or so on a lake or calm river
3) For use in not very cold water (spring-fall in Northern CA)
4) Easy to get used to and manipulate for a new kayaker who is used to
canoes.

One kayak I am considering is the Ocean Kayak Frenzy.

Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks!

a scrambler (yes ocean kayak co is sit on tops) is 11 feet 2 inches long, 28
inches wide, economical ($500 or better new), and versatile. go to
paddling.net and check out some reviews. oh yes, the scrambler is 45 lbs.
i use my scrambler in the fresno area (bass lake, etc). i also have a
scupper pro for the ocean and some light river action that i use at shelter
cove (so humboldt county) it is 55 lbs. good luck.

Sounds like ALOT of kayaks would fit the bill for your intentions, so I'de
probably go for
1.used
2.comfort
3.color....ok just kidding, but as others here will recommend.....demo,
demo, demo
Aren't Ocean brand kayaks all sit on tops?
