Subject: Waterproofing my iPod?

I was out paddling this morning and while I was enjoying the quiet and
solitude, I was also thinking that a little Pacabel's Canon or Pastorale
would go down nicely. Is there a good way to keep an iPod dry in a (flat
water) kayak, or is that a really bad idea all round?

What about this:
Purchase a waterproof case (such as a Otter box).
Get the IPOD FM transmitter option (can be used in your car too, so its not
that big of a waste of money).
Purchase a cheap $5 AM/RM radio.
Enjoy your music!. If the radio gets wet, oh well!

The thing i don't like about the one that you posted is that in order
to skip a song or replay your favorite song 20x you will have to open
the case to do so....in the link below there is a better
feature....you can see the Mp3 player and make it fully functional as
you make it waterproof

Well you got a Balance....like the one that Lady Justice holds on her
hand....
One one side ...spend 60$ and buy one and protect your current
iPod....on the other 400$ to buy another Ipod after the one you have
gets all wet ..... Your call....I'm only giving sugestions...I got
one and I'm very happy with it. I have an Archos Recorder 20 that
used to have a 20Gb HD but now has a swapped 60Gb HD.....and has 15000
yes 15k songs in it....you bet your arse I will protect it!

Of course I haven't seen any ziplock bags that will 1) stand up to the
amount of wear and tear as an AquaPac; 2) allow you to run a wire out
from the bag while retaining the waterproof seal; or 3) remain fully
waterproof when being hit by waves or being submerged up to 30'.
I haven't used the AquaPac cases for music players, but I have been
using their GPS case when kayaking for the last 4 years and it has
protected the GPS receiver (a non-waterproof model) through some
capsizes and many crashing waves.

I suspect that it would be somethig of a bad idea, although it is only
a matter of time before someone starts making a waterproof casing for
the iPod along to lines of the mobile phone ones currently available.
In the mean time, use something less expensive, like an old walkman,
or one of the usb memory stick based devices, then even if you get it
wet it isn't a massive loss.
I suspect the solidstate mp3 player would survive the occasional dunking
in a way that the HD based mp3 players won't.
