Subject: Solo Paddling, a danger to humanity?
|
Living on the coast of Nova Scotia provides tremendous paddling opportunities, nearly year round. I seriously enjoy distance solo paddles along some of the more hostile sections of the coast. A acquaintance whom belongs to a large paddling club was almost to the point of being outraged that not only would I paddle where I do, but I do it alone. "A danger to humanity" he called it. Personally, I don’t care what he thinks. I am well practiced , well prepared, and do it all the time. It seems I have violated some ocean kayaking code( and will be doing it again today and tomorrow). Is this some religious issue within the community or the ranting of a narrow minded club bureaucrat?
