Hi All Does anyone know what type of resin/hardener is in the Old Town Discovery Kit. I have most of the stuff already, including the fibreglass sheet so I only need the resin which I am hoping to buy separately. I'm guessing that its either epoxy or polyester. Any ideas. Thanks in advance

I don't know what's in the kits, but I've always been led to believe that epoxy should be used for all repair work - polyester resins aren't adhesives, and don't bond as securely. Noticed you mentioned having fiberglass sheet - if that's mat, you'll have problems with epoxy, as the powdered binder used to hold the fibers together doesn't wet out well at all, leaving air bubble voids for moisture to penetrate - much better to use fiberglass cloth. Hope this helps - just remember it's free advice, and probably worth exactly what you've paid for it :- >)) <DanKMTB@gmail.com > wrote in message news:1178752113.826853.250930@p77g2000hsh.googlegroups.com... > On Apr 18, 4:56 am, "gellybeans" <gellybe...@btinternet.com> wrote: >> Hi All >> >> Does anyone know what type of resin/hardener is in the Old Town Discovery >> Kit. >> >> I have most of the stuff already, including the fibreglass sheet so I >> only >> need the resin which I am hoping to buy separately. >> >> I'm guessing that its either epoxy or polyester.
