Maybe I'm missing it, but I don't see any way to easily fasten a strap from the bow of my boat on the roof to the front of my Forester. Maybe the Subaru dealer sells some such device?

I can't find it on the web, but I bought webbing with a grommet in it that I bolted down to the front fender bolts. It was sold for that purpose. I tie down to that webbing instead of going to the front of the car. The webbing can be folded inside the engine compartment, so it is invisible, or can be folded out when you want to use it as a lash point. No worry about ropes rubbing on the paint, etc. The tie down angle is better also, I think. I use this on my Subaru Outback. Richard W. They work great for me too. Not rocket science, probably not too hard to make. This link will give you an idea of what they look like. http://www.rutabaga.com/product.asp?pid=1001675 Dan "Richard Ferguson" <fergusonOMITsculpture@omitthisatt.net > wrote in message news:a0zye.1085549$w62.849606@bgtnsc05-news.ops.worldnet.att.net... >I can't find it on the web, but I bought webbing with a grommet in it that >I bolted down to the front fender bolts. My friends Jon & Karen liked their 2000 Forester so much for boating road-trips (because the back seat reclines to absolutely flat so they can sleep in it, unlike previous and subsequent Forester model-years) that they bought a second 2000 as a hangar queen (they're like that; they so like the Dagger Piedra for river-running and the Pyranna Micro for creeking that they have, between them, five Piedras and four Micros. Always carry a spare, eh?) But to yer point: because we boat and shuttle together so often, I know how they load their Forester and they know how I load my Econoline. There are two rings on the front of the Forester, on the frame about six inches behind the bumper, and about a foot in from each side. J&K run an a-frame endline from both rings up to the boat(s). -Richard, His Kanubic Travesty -- ====================================================================== Richard Hopley Winston-Salem, NC, USA . rhopley[at]earthlink[dot]net .
